Kate Hudson is an accomplished actor, most famous for her role as Penny Lane in the Hollywood film Almost Famous which brought her an Academy Award nomination. As a child of a film family, Hudson seemed to be headed to make waves at an early age. Her mother Goldie Hawn was an actor in film and her father Bill Hudson is comedian. She loved performing from an early age and was always eager to take advantage of any opportunity to dance and sing on stage. Parents made sure that she had dance lessons, and she was also trained at the Santa Monica Playhouse as a young girl. Her first acting experience came in 1996 after she received the role in the TV drama Party of Five. The show was a success and she was admitted to New York University, however, Kate Hudson was more interested in getting into show business rather than earning a degree. After appearing in a handful of minor films her audition was for the part that would become her breakthrough in the field. She was chosen to play Penny Lane in the comedy-drama film Almost Famous. The film was a failure at the box office however it was praised by reviews from critics. It established Kate as an actor in the American film industry.
